Mental Health Services

Psychosocial rehabilitation programs help people to live, learn, work and socialize in their community. Programs include a Clubhouse, Supported Work, Therapeutic Volunteer Program (TVP), Employment, Community Support (CLS/SIL), and a range of housing services.

Clubhouse

The Clubhouse offers a welcoming and supportive environment where members can meet others and become involved in activities of their choice.

Programs promote recovery, improve quality of life and help people connect to the community.

Programs are provided in the following areas:

  • Employment/Volunteer

Stepping Stone Clubhouse

Supported Work

The Supported Work Program offered through the Clubhouse supports members to participate in casual work in a community setting.

Participants are supported by staff and are paid no less than minimum wage. Types of jobs include seasonal work such as lawn cutting, yard clean up and delivery of notices.

Participation in the Supported Work Program helps people develop basic work skills, increase confidence, gain work experience and connect with the community.

For many it can be a transition to employment.

Therapeutic Volunteer Program

The Therapeutic Volunteer Program (TVP) offered through the Clubhouse supports members to find and maintain volunteer work.

These volunteer opportunities connect members to the community where they live as well as build confidence and a sense of belonging.

Participants may be eligible to receive an honorarium through the Therapeutic Volunteer Program.

Employment
“The reality is that the Clubhouse has sped my own recovery dramatically to where I am now holding down a private job.”

Employment Services assists individuals who have experienced barriers to employment due to mental health issues gain and maintain employment in the community.

Services include individualized support to secure employment and on-going follow-up to maintain employment.

The Employment Specialist also connects with employers in the community providing education and support.

Community Support

The Community Living Support (CLS) Program provides individualized recovery-oriented support for clients in the community or their homes to assist them to work towards self-directed goals. Services range from short-term assistance to long-term supports.

The Supported Independent Living (SIL) Program is designed to help clients access appropriate, secure housing in order to pursue individual goals towards recovery. A rent supplement along with Community Living Support services is available.

Supported Transitional Housing
“Life does get better with the help of Stepping Stone.”

Stepping Stone Community Services Society operates a 4-Plex which provides 4 units of shared housing for people living with a mental health issue.

Participants are responsible for paying rent, purchasing their own groceries, preparing their own meals, and the up-keep of their unit.

They also receive individualized support from a Community Support Worker.

Enhanced Supported Housing

Rainbow Program is an enhanced supported housing program that provides support for 25 individuals who live in their own apartments, have subsidized rent and access to daily staff support.

Support services include medication monitoring, in-suite support, leisure and education support, information about community resources and a meal program.

Supported Housing Programs promote recovery, improves quality of life and helps people maintain their housing.
