In September 2006, with funding from BC Housing, Stepping Stone Community Services Society hired an Outreach Worker to serve homeless people living in Langley. The purpose of the program is to engage with homeless individuals, build trust and help connect them to services that will create stability in their lives. The program has since expanded and now has two full-time Outreach Workers that are actively involved in many community service events from weekly meal services to attending and providing presentations at meetings and information sessions.
The Outreach Program has become well known in the community to professionals and volunteers as well as clients. Some of the services that Outreach provides are public awareness and education, extreme weather shelter, financial support, housing, rent supplement and advocacy.
